Overall project goal: To strengthen linkages between Diagnostic and Treatment Units (DTUs) and communities through various activities by the TB community linkage facilitators in the 20 high volume TB diagnostic and treatment units and to facilitate TB patient follow up, contact tracing, TB screening and referral of presumptive TB patients to DTU’s for appropriate care in Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

Key Results

Used 62 Community Linkage Facilitators model resulting in notification of 23,765 TB cases (682 MDR-TB cases), increased TSR from 71% in 2013 to 85% in 2016, cure rate from 33% to 78%, reduction of LTFU from 26% to 5% and DOT coverage at 88% in KCCA. TRACK TB Project installed 20 GeneXpert machines and established the GeneXpert Alert reporting system.
