Completed assignments under SRH/FP services

  • Recently, AIC supported and provided technical support to Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development to develop a Male Engagement Strategy on GBV, HIV and SRHR; developed and implemented the National Strategy on Prevention of Child Marriages and Teenage Pregnancies; held a National Kings Forum to discuss and develop strategies to prevent teenage pregnancies and create demand creation for FP services in cultural institutions.
  • With support from UNFPA, AIC worked with over 1,000 Political and Cultural Leaders in Karamoja Region where a Karamoja Shalosa Declaration on Sexual Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS was developed and endorsed by the leaders; Using the “Protect the goal campaign” over 6,237,901 cultural and traditional leaders were supported to mobilize communities of adolescents and young people for SRHR/FP, HIV, GBV integrated services. These campaigns reached over 21,965,812 adolescents and young people with SRHR/FP, HIV, GBV integrated services.
  • AIC worked with and supported Ministry of Education through Technical Working Groups to develop a National Sexuality Education Framework (SEF) and continues to publicize the framework among cultural and religious leaders as well adolescents and young people through dialogues. District Local Governments (DLGs) such as Bundibugyo, Kiryandongo were supported to develop Ordinances against teenage pregnancies and support access to FP commodities; 8 DLGs were supported to develop Costed Implementation Plans for Family Planning and operationalize them.
  • AIC has also worked with Uganda AIDS Commission to organize “Ebyotto” (Fire Places) in Bunyoro, Busoga, Toro and Karamoja Kingdoms where over 12,304,256 men and women have been reached with SRHR/FP messages in the eleven Kingdoms.
